Chapter 8 - Unify your language

This episode provides you with ideas to take turn thinking into practice. Every school has a language of its own – from the language of the children to the administrative language of the office, the playground, the classroom, the staff room, the senior leadership team, the governors and, of course, the parents – a range of stakeholders, all of whom might have a different way of describing and talking about the learner and learning.

‘Unifying your language’ establishes a shared understanding that breaks down barriers and enables a common basis for engaging with value, voice and vision and positive learning identities. This episode considers how by developing a unified language, we can all participate in conversations that help us to navigate our learning journeys through strengthening our learning connections.
