As universities begin to start a new academic year it has provoked a series of thoughts around the nature of the courses they are offering and how those connect to a wider conversation we need to be having throughout our communities.
The ongoing global debate surrounding AI trends and workforce readiness is missing a vital piece of the puzzle: talent cannot be developed in isolation. I have noticed universities seemingly ready to shoulder the responsibility of preparing young people for an AI-driven world through the well presented courses they offer. But relying solely on university degrees and that brief 3 to 4 year window to build future-ready capabilities is upside down.
If we wait until higher education to focus on our uniquely human qualities, we severely limit what is possible. Unlocking capabilities that deepen our response to technological change demands that we join up our thinking across the entire learning life course.
